描述:
Michener held Hiroshige's prints to an international standard and found him to be an equal among the greatest. "He had an honest, clean eye. He could see nature's varied forms and changing climates. Of all the artists who have ever lived, only a few could see. Cézanne, Whistler, Turner and Monet come to mind, along with Piero della Francesca and Velásquez....A man like Hiroshige can teach an entire nation, or even a substantial segment of the world, to see. After sharing with him the manifold aspects of nature one cannot go back to blindness." In this series, the artist opens up an intimate view of his city, Edo, through refreshing and new perspectives. This view is of the port, across a veranda littered with the remains of an evening's entertainment. 2003
