描述:
Handsome print by TOSHI YOSHISA entitled "Heirinji, Temple Bell". Originally sold by Kabutoya Galleries in San Francisco - a gallery now long gone, that used to have one of the finest collections of Japanese prints in the country. In excellent condition - fine impression - a lovely example of this important artist's work. Signed in pencil, red seal, uncertain as to date but most probably from between 1950 and 1965. Standard Oban Size - 15 3/43" x 10 1/2" - excellent impression and condition. TOSHI YOSHIDA was born in 1911 in Tokyo as the first son of the hanga artist and painter Hiroshi Yoshida. Toshi Yoshida was raised in a milieu of artists in Japan's traditional art of wood-block prints, including both parents and his grandparents. From as early as the age of three Toshi is said to have shown signs of exceptional talent in this art form. His works have been acquired for the permanent collections of the world's leading museums, such as the New York Museum of Modern Art and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. (NOTE - my scanner will not scan the full 15 3/4" x 10 1/2" dimensions of the print - so I am including photos of the top half and bottom half separately to show the details).
