Night at Hasedera Temple, 1950 Kawase Hasui (1883 ? 1957) The scene glows under a starlit sky in luminous blue, the outlines of trees are seen behind the old temple buildings. A monk walks down the temple steps lit by the traditional round lanterns overhead. This design is one of Hasui’s best night scenes. Signed- Kawase Hasui with red artist’s seal “sui” Sealed- Publisher Watanabe, 7mm seal, later edition original, from original blocks Image size- 9 ?” x 14 3/8” (oban tate-e) Condition- Excellent, no toning, tears, not mounted, full margins
