描述:
Ono Falls is noted throughout Japan as one of the eight famous views on the Kiso Road, the overland route between Edo and Kyoto. Placed at the left side in this print, the falls appears magnificent, dropping straight down in numerous streams. The small building at the center is a shrine. Five travelers are on the bridge. The bizarre, craggy cliffs and the thick white mist create a feeling of a high and remote mountain, though the falls is actually only 30 feet high. The water's powerful torrents are poetically compared to ""Flying dragons biting the rocks"" (Muneshige Narazaki, Link, p. 56). (Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, “Hokusai and Hiroshige”, 1998)
