Woodblock triptych print, oban tate-e. A scene from the kabuki play 'Soga kyodai', with the actors (from right to left): Ichikawa Danjuro VIII as Sasano Gonzo standing and holding a spear with a giant centipede at the end of it (Inset: Bando Hikosaburo as Chokuro); Bando Hikosaburo as Nisuke with the spear over his right shoulder and a purse in his mouth (Inset: Onoe Kikujiro as the geisha Mikatsu); and Ichikawa Kodanji IV as Shirai Gonpachi standing over Onoe Kikujiro as Yaeume, the daughter of Sukedayu (Inset: Ichikawa Danjuro VIII as Hanshichi).
