Jomi, sometimes called "the doll festival" or "girls' day", falls on the 3rd day of the 3rd month of the lunar calendar in use in old Japan. Ceremonial dolls,called hina, were bround forth and set out on a shelf called the hina-dani. In this print Toyohiro has given a mitate-e or likening picture of a scene in the mansion of a noble, wher the lady of the house is seated in a room beside a windo of the peculiar shape known as Genji window,
