描述：

Print no. 52 of the series: "Famous Views of the Sixty-odd Provinces" Wakanoura was known for its temple, shrines, and scenic beauty. It is the subject of many Japanese poems, including one by Nara period poet Yambe no Akahito (active 724−736), one of the ancient poetic exemplars included in the Thirty-Six Poetic Immortals of Japan. When Hiroshige designed this print with accompanying verse, he may have had one of Akahito’s poems in mind. It reads: “As the tide rises at Wakanoura, the flats disappear, and the cranes head for the shore of reeds, crying.”
