vertical oban diptych (kakemono-e) Her obi has a chocolate ground and a striking pattern of blue magpies in the branches of a blossoming cherry tree. The rest of her garments are equally striking. Flamboyant clothing such as that shown in this print was worn only by courtesans. Geisha when fulfilling a professinal engagement also wore showy clothes but as a rule they were not so "lous" as those worn by courtesans
