Thirty-two Aspects of Customs and Manners: # 9 Looking Amused Artist: Yoshitoshi Format: Oban tate-e: 14.75" x 10" Subject: A high ranking maid in the Bunsei era(1818-30). A lady with the fashionably black lacquered teeth of a young married lady, looks over a red lacquered railing. She is holding a pouch with intricate silver chain decorations and pearl jewels on her Obi sash, which also contains a mirror, tissue paper and other necessities of a lady of breeding. Publisher: Tsunashima Kamekichi Date: 1888 Condition: Full size. Album backing paper. Minor soils, foxing, marks and flaws. Generally very good state. Colour: Fine colors. Impression: Very good impression with gauffrage.
