Thursday, 14 August 2008 Charming chop-signed woodblock print of a young girl by Japanese artist Kaoru Kawano (1916-1965, biography below). The piece is sold matted and unframed. (Photos show piece both in and out of matte.) Kawano’s chop signature, approx. ?” square in red ink, appears in the margin on the lower right side of the paper. Image is in very good condition and measures approx. 4-1/4” wide by approx. 5-7/8” high. Paper is in very good condition ? with one old glue speck in middle of the right margin and 1-1/4” strip of clear tape in middle of the bottom margin hidden by the matte ? and measures approx. 6-3/4” wide by 8-3/4” high. Matte measures 8” wide by 10” high.
