Tuesday, 9 November 2010 Original Hiroshige (1797 - 1858) Japanese Woodblock Print Act 7, The 47 Ronin, circa 1840s Series; The Storehouse of Loyalty (Chushingura) Act 7, The 47 Ronin, circa 1840s - Fantastic print from a very rare 47 ronin series by Hiroshige published by Aritaya in the 1840s. The series is known for its unusual treatment of several of its subjects, showing innovative interpretations of the scenes more commonly found in Chushingura series. Featuring large figures set into attractive landscapes or interior settings, these woodblocks are a wonderful choice for a Hiroshige collector or anyone interested in 47 ronin prints.
