"Tsuma no Kokoro" ("Mind of a Wife"). Frontispiece illustration from the popular literary magazine, Bungei Kurabu, Vol.7, No.3, which was aimed at largely female readers in Meiji - Taisho era. Eisen TOMIOKA was a very popular illustrator. It was said that the magazines with kuchi-e by Eisen were sold much better than the ones without Eisen's kuchi-e.
